It’s been a few days since the troubled nuclear plant at Fukushima became national news so here’s what’s been happening.
Sea water has been pumped into the reactor to cool it down. According to TEPCO 70% of the fuel has been damaged.
There is still suspected damage to the containment building with 30% of the fuel damaged
Venting and cooling is continuing with a drop of seawater from a helicopter to refill the spent fuel pool planned for later today
There is an issue with the water level in the spent fuel pools. Fires from yesterday appear to be caused by oil pump fires. The situation is still being monitored.
