Fukushima update: Tastes like metal.

It’s been a few days since the troubled nuclear plant at Fukushima became national news so here’s what’s been happening.

Reactor #1

Sea water has been pumped into the reactor to cool it down. According to TEPCO 70% of the fuel has been damaged.

Reactor #2

There is still suspected damage to the containment building with 30% of the fuel damaged

Reactor #3

Venting and cooling is continuing with a drop of seawater from a helicopter to refill the spent fuel pool planned for later today

Reactor #4

There is an issue with the water level in the spent fuel pools. Fires from yesterday appear to be caused by oil pump fires. The situation is still being monitored.
